Divination Articles
These Articles are designed to guide readees and clients alike for a better understanding on psychics and psychic readings. Many psychics and readers may also be able to benefit from them too.

Divinatory Tools
Divination is an ancient practice for determining future events, used in one form or another throughout history. It is an integral part of psychic and spiritual work, usually involving some kind of tool to use. There are many different forms and derivatives, most of which are listed in the Divination Dictionary.
Many psychics prefer to use tools for psychic readings and predictions, of which there are so many types and variations of use that we have written a comprehensive list in the form of the Divination Dictionary. (This is available from the Online Store.)
Below are some of the most commonly used tools:

Tarot Cards
A deck of 78 picture cards used in divination and psychic readings, which is divided into 22 pictorial cards with archetypal significance (the Major Arcana) and 56 cards of four suits: wands, swords, cups and pentacles (the Minor Arcana). There are scores of different sets of Tarot cards, but it's a matter personal choice which version is used.

Astrology Charts
The reference material used in Astrology, which is an ancient oracular system based on the study of planetary movements, the positions of the stars and Zodiac signs to foretell the future and interpret their effects on human and earthly affairs.

Pendulums
Objects used for divination, which are usually constructed of brass and are usually the same as those found in grandfather clocks. The most common form of pendulum today is a ring tied to a length of string. Held loosely in one hand over an object or location on a map, the pendulum will oscillate accordingly.

Dowsing Rods
A Y-shaped or forked rod, which when held loosely in both hands can divine for objects, locations or energy points. Traditionally, dowsing rods were used for finding the locations of underground water wells. Sometimes, a dowsing rod is in the form of two L-shaped metal rods, which are held in both hands and move to and fro, with the bars crossing when the target object, location or energy is found.

Ouija Boards
A board with letters and numbers around its circumference, which is a method used for spirit communication, via a "planchette". With only the fingertips resting lightly on the planchette, the spirits reputedly guide it towards the letters and numbers in response to questions asked. These can relate to past, present and future events.

Spirit Guides
Many psychics do not rely on these types of tools, but rather on spirit guides, natural ability and intuition. Whereas, some psychics use these tools as a guide for "channelling", some rely exclusively on the them for answers or insight. Mediums rely on spirits to find the relevant information. Determining the future using these methods and the tools can be unreliable because information about future events in particular cannot be confirmed until they actually come to pass. Divining events from the past can be corroborated because the chances are good that there will be documentation of those events.
Divination "Guidelines"
The future is not carved in stone, as every person's actions influences its outcome. The commonest misconception is that psychics are all-seeing, all-knowing beings capable of peering into the future. So, when predictions fail (for whatever reasons), they are automatically dubbed as "fake" or "fraud".

There are a number of fraudulent psychics, which makes it increasingly more difficult to determine the genuine ones from the fake ones. Subsequently, misconceptions about psychics arise, with no defined morals and ethics or, indeed, what psychics actually are and do. There are no "official" laws or rules governing psychic practice.

Always go with what Intuition tells you; it never lies, only human interpretation of its message does (and we're all at fault with that). If something feels uncomfortable, the chances are that those "alarm bells" are ringing, telling you that it isn't right for you.
