Psi Research — Psi Tests
This section is dedicated to various psi experiments and tests that I've conducted over the years. Most of these are from my own research and notes, from which I've obtained much of my statistical data, and some are personal adaptations of well-known methods.

  • Balloon Test: This is a fun exercise using helium-filled balloons. (It may not be practicable for everyone.)
  • Card Test: This is a simple psi test using an ordinary deck of cards (an adaptation of psi tests conducted with Zener cards).
  • Dice Test: This is a simple test to guess the outcome of dice rolls.
  • Levitation Test: This is a "classic" experiment into human levitation, where several people effortlessly lift a person up using only mindpower.

These are simple tests that can be conducted at home, without expensive equipment or resources. There's much more to parapsychology than testing, as results are often checked on a comparison chart, which is a list of expected results based on averages. A score of "below average" does not indicate psychic activity, whereas a score of "above average" indicates a higher degree of psychic activity. A score of "average", however, only indicates that most people are (consciously or unconsciously) capable of producing the same results.

When conducting tests to determine "latent" or "actual" psychic activity, the following general rules will help establish that:

  • Remember to have a comparison chart at hand, with expected results and actual results. It's better to compare the results of 25 "trials" (tests) - anything less than that may not produce accurate statistical data and anything more than that would become overwhelming.
  • Don't overdo the tests with the same people. Instead, try and test different people each time, keeping in mind that 25 trials should be ample.
  • Keep an open mind when conducting psi tests. It's too easy to become convinced of psychic activity if test results produce an "above average" score persistently. Compare those results with other "above average" results and determine specific trends, if any.
  • Record the date and time of each test, and the time taken to complete the test, then the results of the test. This will provide a clue as to how easily (or naturally) psychic ability comes to a person. Some people will be quicker than others, while some will take the time to "channel" properly for better results.
  • With the advent of computers, it's much easier to log any findings on the hard drive. I've found Microsoft Excel to be an excellent program for doing just that.
Parapsychology/Psi
Parapsychology is a relatively modern science that studies psychic ability and paranormal phenomena. The Victorians were fascinated with séances, where a "Spiritual Medium" could supposedly talk to deceased friends or relatives, levitate objects and manifest "ectoplasm" as proof of contact. Most, however, were exposed as fraudulent mediums, who were eager to cash in on the rapidly growing trend. One could actually say that parapsychology was born out of that era in a continuous effort to expose the Spiritual Mediums as frauds.
Parapsychology has a serious application, however, through experimental and investigative means. Not only is its aim to determine psychic (or "psi") ability, but also to understand how and why it works. Brain activity is carefully studied to determine which parts of the brain are affected when psi levels are high, during sleep or when awake. Oneirology (the scientific study of dreams) and the research that some parapsychologists have done have contributed towards diagnosing the mechanisms in the brain partially responsible for certain mental illnesses.
Government agencies - such as the CIA, the KGB, MI6, and others around the world - have been aware of psychics for decades, conducting rigorous and extensive tests through the use of "sensory deprivation", mind-altering drugs, mental enhancement, etc. to determine psychic "power". Their particular areas of interest are remote viewing, telepathy, psychokinesis and ESP, and there are documented cases of psychics being used as "psi spies" or "psionic weapons".
